Finished Multi-Coloured Afghan!

Well, after what feels like FOREVER I have finally finished the multi-coloured afghan I have been working on.  From previous posts you have seen the afghan in pieces.

Here is an up close look at the border that I knit all the way around.  My mom did have to help me with sewing all the strips together (and she helped by fixing some of my mistakes) but then I finished up the border.  The finishing touches really do make it come all together and make it totally worth it.

Here is a shot of the completed project!

I'm really happy with the finished project.  When I was designing the colours, etc. I wasn't really sure how they would work with each other and look all put together but I'm quite happy with the colours.

I made this afghan for my boss.  I know that sounds weird.  But he is quite a good boss and has been very generous to my husband and I with respect to bonuses and giving me time off whenever I want it/need it.  So this was something that I thought I could give him and his wife to show our gratitude that wouldn't be inappropriate or anything like that.  I checked with their daughter ahead of time and had an idea that these colours would go well with their basement.  When I gave him the gift he was really shocked and couldn't believe I made it (actually he didn't believe me and I had to convince him!) but he did say that the colours would match perfectly!  So I felt very relieved.

Finishing this project has given me a huge sense of accomplishment and it was something I love to do.  What more can you ask for?

Next, I will tell you about another project I finished recently.  Stay tuned...

Where is your favorite place to take a nap?  I can't honestly say I slept here...but my love of sleep made me appreciate seeing this!

Book Review: A Woman Betrayed by Barbara Delinsky

I just finished reading A Woman Betrayed by Barbara Delinsky and I was really impressed with it.  I was expecting a more typical 'chick' type book i.e. romantic but instead I found it to be a really interesting character piece with many facets.

In general the story is about a woman's life who is completly turned upside down when her husband disapears one day.  Turns out he is a man of many secrets and they start coming out one by one.  It is amazing how one act by her husband affected her and those around her in so many ways.

The book was very captivating and like I said Barbara really dives into her characters so you feel like you really know her characters and in this particular book - the woman to has been betrayed.

I recommend this book to anyone!

I have read from one of my favorite blogs:  workintothelifeiwant.blogspot.com about a Sunday Nite Chit-Chat that is done on halfdozendaily.typepad.com/my-half-dozen-daily so I am going to try doing it tonight.  I haven't quite got the hang of this linking yet but I will work on it!

What are you:

Reading?

Back on Blossom Street by Debbie Macomber.  Two of my favorite things:  A series and knitting!

Watching?

CBS - the Grammys are going to be coming on, I think.

Listening to?

My husband and his mom and sister talking in the next room.  Very annoying.

Cooking/Baking?

Nothing!  I have been on vacation and I love it!!

Happy you accomplished this week?

Rest and relaxation - which is very hard for me.  I still need to come a long way:)

Looking forward to next week?

Coming home and seeing my puppy again - oh how I need a hug from her!

Thankful for today?

Sunshine and warmth and good deals (I went shopping!)

OK - thanks for reading.  Lets do this again sometime...how about next Sunday?
I read The Weeds that String the Hangman's Bag by Alan Bradley on my recent vacation and I LOVED this book.  I highly recommend this series.  The first book is called The Sweetness at the Bottom of the Pie and introduces you to Flavia DeLuce.  She is the most adorable 11 year old little girl.  I don't want to spoil it but she is one of the best characters I have met in years.  I think Alan Bradley is a genious in his creation of her.

The book I just finished is the second one in the series and I belive the third one has already been released, so I am going to find it from my local library right away.

Each book so far has had a mystery for Flavia to solve, in her own way!  I really don't want to tell you too much about the plot because I think part of the fun in reading is getting to know the character yourself while you are reading.

Once again, I highly recommend this series.  Go and have some downtime and read a great book!
I finished reading Crunch Time by Diane Mott Davidson and I give it 3.5 out of 5.  It was entertaining but I did not find it suspenseful at all.  There were a lot of charaters (and when I'm tired I have a hard time keeping them all straight!) to remember but the plot was pretty original.  I would recommend this book if you want a light, easy read and like 'whodunits'.
